Benefits of Massage
Massage
and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain,
increase circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental
and physical fatigue and reduce blood pressure. Massage and
bodywork is also known to promote better sleep, improve
concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well
- being.
Types of Massage & Bodywork
Swedish
– the most common form of massage, Swedish mainly relaxes muscles,
and eases aches and pains
Sports
Massage – For the athlete, sports massage techniques are utilized
at all stages: pre-event, post-event, during training and to
expedite rehabilitation after injury.
Myofascial Release – Myofascial is generally an extremely mild and
gentle form of stretching the fascia that has a deep effect upon
body tissues. This approach consists of the gentle
application of sustained pressure into the fascial restrictions.
Trigger
point therapy – constant pressure applied to “knots” (trigger
points) to help facilitate relaxation of the muscle.
Active
release technique – long deep strokes applied while the muscle is
taken through a lengthening contraction to release “inflexible
areas of the muscle” (fascial adhesions).
